What does /g/ think of programming video games?
I like to make them as a hobby, when I'm not busy with tons of other shit.

I've always wanted to make my own game engine. Not for the purposes of actually making a game, but just as an exercise in working with opengl and stuff.

Unity's an engine, MonoGame isn't. That said, MonoGame is shit.
I didn't enjoy learning programming, so I gave up on that one. Then I realized I didn't have any other talents either that were related to it. No writing skills, poor at design or music making. The only thing I could do is translate shit to my native language.
I just realized that, in the end, if I put a year or two of my time on trying to make videogames, it would end up being another one of those lazy pieces of shit people keep shitting up. It's better to just do some real work and enjoy videogames on my free time instead.
