Hey guys not sure if this is the right board for this but

What would be the best/most cost effective way to supply charging power to around 10+ iPhones at a time in a remote area?

I was thinking of maybe bringing a large battery of some sort and rigging it up to some power strips but I have no clue what type of battery to buy, or even a safe way to rig it to power strips.

Essentially I need the convenience of charging 10+ iPhones in a location that has no power, anything you guys could recommend would be great

Largest external power packs you can find. Solar panels wouldn't hurt to charge those packs, but it'll be slow.

For how long? Indefinitely?
If not, how many charges do you need?

You can run something like this off a 12v battery:

Yeah those are pretty expensive and I'd have to have it shipped

Is using a 12 volt battery out of the question?

Yeah something like that would be dope if I could hook it up to a 12 volt

I'd need it for about 10 hours a day and could then go home and recharge it

I'm a counselor at a large scale old fashioned outdoors camp and the whole no power thing here is killing the staff

If you just need to charge during the day and can charge overnight, it should work OK.
It may need a more tightly regulated 12v source though, so you might need something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/DROK-Adjustable-Regulator-Stabilizer-Transformer/dp/B00C9UAE28

For each phone, figure you'll need about 1 amp-hour of battery capacity, so to charge 10 phones that'd be about 10Ah.
Note that you'll kill the battery very quickly if you discharge it all the way regularly, so you'll want to double that to be on the safe side.

Something like this would probably work:
https://www.amazon.com/ExpertPower-EXP12200-Rechargeable-Threaded-Terminals/dp/B00KC39BE6/

Note that for all three you'd be at about $150 or so here, for that amount you could get this:
https://www.amazon.com/MAXOAK-50000mAh-Portable-External-Notebook-Most/dp/B00YP823NA
It's only got 4 USB outlets but you could either hook the 10-port station up to the 12v output, or wire up a couple normal car usb chargers to it.

What type of battery should I use/how would I go about rigging it to that

See >>55523722

If shipping/cost is an issue, and you can get batteries locally (maybe a car battery?), you can wire up cigarette outlets to that and use normal car usb chargers.

You can likely find something like this at an auto parts store:
https://www.amazon.com/AVANTEK-3-Socket-Cigarette-Lighter-Splitter/dp/B00F474DVG

How you attach it to the battery would depend on what kind of terminals it has. You'd want to add a fuse as well. Note that larger batteries (and really small batteries too) can be pretty dangerous if you have a short circuit so if you haven't done this kind of stuff before you'll probably want to get help from someone who knows what they're doing.

Also you might check >>/diy/ for this kind of thing.
