I can't find a decent OS. It seems that all of them are shit.

> Windows has shitty font rendering, and spies on you. Also it's not good as it was back in 2003 era.

>Gnu/Linux it's a too much terminal dependant, also the community it's actually a real shit. Also Amd support is a meme.

>OsX it's a real meme. I can't believe people are still believe that they are "perfect" for musician.

Am I the only one that have this kind of though?

macOS is the best OS. I feel sorry for Pajeets™ and GNU/Pajeets since they are missing out on the world's most advanced desktop Operating System.
>>
>>55505613
Have you actually tried anything but Windows so far? By tried I mean more than half a day.
>>
>>55505719
I currently tried to use for a week Linux Mint. Also Tried for 2 month Ubuntu with GNOME 2, GNOME 3, KDE, Cinnamon, XFCE, KDE It was year 2012.

I also help an old man trying to use OS X on a iMac 2012 and I've understand that out of "apple softwares" it's all a lot gimped. Also I don't like the idea of "You want to use OS X?, you have to buy the computer that WE want."

Lol, I heard a lot of bullshit but it's the first time I heard this one.

OS X is just a good overall os.
We all now it's not liked here because people on this board can't afford a mac.

Not seeing any arguments. You don't have to buy Apple hardware. Hackintoshes work perfectly fine now.

They often say things like "I don't want a locked down OS like OS X" when it's really a lot less locked down than Windows. They just think OS X is the desktop equivalent to iOS, but it's really not.

>>55505902
That >>55505830 is not a critique, it just sounds like you don't know what you are doing.

eh, no
>>
>>55505830
OS X is great for me because it has the same terminal support as Linux, but none of the terminal dependence you complain about. Its install/uninstall system feels "cleaner" than windows and easier to use than Linux. Also, it's the best OS for laptops, getting very good battery life and entering and leaving s3 sleep almost instantly.

>>
>>55505613
im in the same boat with ya op.

windows is both hideously overpriced and spys on me (one or the other asshole no double dipping).

Linux is just fucking ludicrous...id use it if they only had maybe 3-5 competing distros. there was a thread a few days ago about how arch coundnt run steam, the p was told because its made for ubuntu. what the hell its all linux it should all just work, but its literally 500 different operating systems for no goddamned reason.

And the linux community is toxic as fuck group of ideallistic commies...that doesnt help.

Osx is childish at best but it just werks....on apple proprietary hardware and nothing else. Sure you can try a hackintosh but compatability problems abound. If apple wanted to rule the world it would liscense OSX as a real operating system.

yeah...at this point hoping google can save us. But they do not seem to really give a shit about a full on desktop android/chrome hybrid. And if they do get thier shit together it likely wont support custom built pc's anyway.

so yeah life fucking sucks. you get a choice at least...but every choice is absolute shit.
>>
>>55505989
>Osx is childish at best

What does this mean?
>>
>>55505989
I was the same until I actually installed hackintosh. It's not that bad since ~2013, no compatibility issues turned out for me even though i had to install 2 kexts.
>>
>>55505875
I own a mac and OS X is pretty shitty. There's so much hidden bullshit that you can actually realize how well documented and easy to use a linux system is, even without the aid of google. Constant command+option clicking just to get to the screen rotation setting, really? Forget all the stupid little bugs with expose, finder, mail, and the notification center (had to disable the gesture and use a hot corner, it tended to stick halfway), and focus on how user-friendly apple likes to stuff shit behind weird tricks.

But hey, it's not windows

While OS X is dumb user-friendly, it doesn't make it a bad OS for a 'power user'. All security measures are easily disableable.
>>
>>55505986
Darwin is just the kernel. The OS itself isn't open.
>>
>>55506041
I already told you to look up gatekeeper. the have a walled garden mentality. OSX is the OS you give your grandmother because it wont allow her to break it by default. it does this but not allowing the user to do much of ANYTHING by default....DUMBASS.

this is true hence why I said id use it. but i do find it obnoxious that these things are there in the first place. its rather insulting that apple needs to protect the user from themselves by default.

>>55506076

The GUI components (Aqua and shit) are closed-source yes. But you'll find that 90% of OS X is open.

You want to know something interesting? Your GNU/Linux installing is most likely not fully-open either, proprietary kernel modules everywhere and senpai

Windows does the same thing. And one of the reasons linux will never be widely-used on the desktop is that it doesn't do this enough. Only difference is, with OS X, you still have the terminal so you can circumvent shit like pic related.

Helpfiles are a mess compared to man pages. It's not easy and time saving to use them in the least.

Apple must be living in the past, where people actually read the manual cover to cover before using software instead of learning as they worked via a discoverable and self documenting interface.

>emacs is easier to learn than apple macs

>>55506108
Um, kubuntu at least prevents users from adding and removing from sensitive files. You need to go into root to do it.

The thing I like about os x is that when i try to do something system-related in GUI (like making a file starting with dot or modifying core Unix directories) it warns me, while giving option to proceed. Why doesn't windows do this?

csrutil, rootless.conf, and the protected flag aren't even documented. You're not supposed to use it outside of "csrutil enable" and "csrutil disable".

The options were discovered by literally running "strings" on the binary and guessing based on what was in the file and what changed
