Looking for analog-digital watch that is not a g-shock. preferably in titanium and good quality.
I prefer an analog time display, but use the countdown, chrono & alarm features regulary on my gw5000.
The dial/crystal on the tissot t-touch is too fucking huge even though I can accommodate a 45mm case.
What should I consider besides pic related?

Casio lineage
This model is titanium, has AR coated sapphire and is around 40mm iirc.
And it has all the ana digi functions as well as being solar and radio controlled.
>Yank https://www.amazon.com/LINEAGE-LCW-M170TD-1AJF-MULTIBANDS-WRISTWATCH-JAPANESE/dp/B00IK5YS64/ref=pd_srecs_cs_241_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=51EglvmYhbL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL250_SR150%2C250_&psc=1&refRID=P1KBQC8TANQ2P8Q4X4F6

I would really recommend going for the steel version though. Titanium is a scratch magnet. Steel is a bit cheaper too

I really wish Casio would drop some of the shit they put in the limited edition models down to the more reasonable priced ones. 3k is Grand Seiko money.
>>

yea I saw that bit of the email
I was just hoping that they didn't have that many extra orders
>>
>>55476805

I agree. It is expensive for the sake of being expensive.

To me a g-shock must be affordable to be a true g-shock.

Casio could do a lot with g-shocks but they still put out the same crap time and time again with almost no foresight towards functionality

Thoughts?

I'm having doubts about pulling the trigger.

I think it's too big for how small the numbers are and it doesnt have a central light button.

Also it may bee too niche with that cammo to be used daily on the street instead of just outdoors

I already have a 5610.

I'm not a big fan of the 5000/5600 series, they have some features I dont like at all, although I could get an imported 5000 right now and I'm tempted.

Right now I use a gd-350 for everything, which is one of the most perfect modules I've ever seen for a g-shock.

Why? It offers nothing that the dw5600 doesn't already have and the design looks like shit.

The 6900 is a meme watch for the most part, with one of the most useless gimmick display of any g-shock

My old ass watchmaker died. Guy was a nigga. He'll be missed

What's the best way to find someone that won't fuck up a vintage watch? Will any ol' jewelry store watchmaker do fine?
I've tried a few places, but immediately got weird looks for bringing in vintage. Bounced the fuck out. Bad vibes.

I'm most concerned with replacement of original parts. For the record the watches are two late '40s to mid '50s all American Hamiltons.

One's been in my possession for about ten years, runs great and has had regular servicing. The second was a recent gift. But runs fast--confirmed NOT magnetized--need a service bad.

There somewhere online that would be the best place to look? I've tried Yellowpages, Yelp, and Google.

I didn't even know they had multiple locations, I only know of the one in PA. I know there was a guy who had a vintage omega about a year back who sent his watch there, and they did a fantastic job. He had them do a restore on it and it came back looking close to new. They've got a good reputation on WUS as well. I'm about to send my Hamilton micro rotor in for service with them.

I've been on the hunt for some time, and this is the conclusion I'm reaching.

Although I don't care for Breitling, the Aerospace does what I want. The major issues are 1) I wear my watch on my right hand, and this makes rotating the crown to access the functions a pain in the ass. 2) It's a breitling and everybody would know that I'm the kind of asshole that bought a breitling.

Well the painted ones aren't too bad. Except the paint wears off way too fast, and the shininess is all wrong and gives it off too easily.

And even when they make a watch with less shiny paint like pic related, they give it round angles to make it more obvious, and put it on an extremely shiny band.

This is all fucked up, it's like they deliberately don't want us to buy their watches.

For use in some extreme conditions like cold or underwater.

Minimal maintenance is also a must. Something I can buy and forget about forever.

Bonus points for no batteries or batteries that dont need to be replaced.

Price is not a concern

I'm talking what looks best, you fucking cretin. When quickly glancing at my watch I don't want to rotate it in my head. I don't want to think "okay, so that'd be 12, and so that must be 20 to 2". It doesn't exactly take me long, but it's an unnecessary and annoying step.

Almost all watches are gaudy bullshit. Black dial, simple hands, simple numbers, silver-metal strap, a little number for the date. No more and no less is needed. More is tacky as fucking dogshit, less is ugly and less effective.

Solar G-Shock.
>Price is not a concern
Well then you can get two.

GW-M5610 sounds ideal.

More seriously though, countless watches apply. Plus no one really needs that: no one dives with a watch, no one gets his watch colder than his own body, the shittiest lume is good enough, everyone has 5 minutes in his life to replace a battery...

Myself, I've been on the move 24/7 for two years, sent on a plane every week, often parachuted from those, getting in and out of vehicles repeatedly and hitting my watches on the way each and every time, motorcycling in the desert during a sandstorm, crawling in the mud under a heavy rain, trekking in the Himalayas covered in snow, sailing on shitty boats through litteral tsunamis, rescuing people from buildings on fire... Since then I've retired, and I still do the same things, except for recreational purposes and with a lesser intensity, but still. I also spend most of my time in fucking Vietnam, where water, dust and mud are everywhere under a fiery sun.

Nothing killed my watches. What are those wonderful watches? Well:
- Timex Intelligent Quartz Compass
- Casio F-91W and AE-1200
- Vostok 090

There you go anon, buy those magnifiscent watches because they're apparently the best ever. Or maybe most watches are already tough enough to survive things that would kill you.

>An interesting concept, because the tritium actually charges the lume.
Yes, I discussed this in last thread. So I looked closely at the pictures of various tritium/lime combined Vostoks but I could not find any signs of this. Most likely the lume was shock charged with UV light since it was so insanely bright. After a few hours the picture would be different.

My guess is that the tritium would drag a "tail" of charged lume behind it, it would be a neat effect. Tritium tubes could be optimised for the lume but unfortunately I do not see they have done this.

A small tritium tube in the window for the date would make that readable also at night, another feature I have wanted for a long time. Since the date field changes at midnight there is little help in lume alone.

For your brother who may not be a watchfag, I would recommend pic related. It's about 170€, of great quality, with nice aesthetics that appeal to plenty people, and not generic as fuck. What did I say about accuracy? Nothing in my post says anything about what watchfags like.

But:

If you're looking for cheap quartz accuracy the correct answer is a Seiko 8J movement watch. It's one of your cheaper thermocompensated movement options.

It certainly wouldn't be that nighthawk dogshit. You could expect a Seiko 8J to be over 15x as accurate over time. 8Js are rated at +-10 seconds a YEAR. Nighthawk is +-15 seconds a MONTH.

Are these actually designed by Domenico Dolce from Dolce & Gabbana or are they just using a generic Italian word for the line?
I wish they stopped to do that.

>>55495651
I wouldn't be surprised, it means 'sweet' in Italian, and fruits are often sweet.

Probably because the Italians have some influence on the brand. They've produced watches specifically for Italy in the past, and made pilots watched dedicated to Italian pilot. They've worked with Italian designers like Giugiaro. They probably have some Italian members on their board of directors or something choosing names and deciding on projects.

But have fun with that autism anyway.

The right one looks like a grandpa watch. Do you work on them yourself, btw?

And to be fair I'm somewhat envious of you, I didn't get good stats on the fucking tsav rishon although I'm probably overestimating how fun atuda is.

I'll let you know I'm actually Italian, thanks.

Seiko isn't even distributing its products in Italy, the Italian distributor of Seiko is a piece of shit that only has the low end watches and doesn't recognize the international warranty. Because of the marketing "strategy" of the distributor over the years Seiko is now identified with a low level brand.
Sadly I doubt Seiko gives a shit about us.

Anyway Dolce is shit as a line name, it means sweet.
