Is this series even worse than the 900 series? The GTX 970 of course being the worst card in recent memory. How will Nvidia recover? How did they get so outskilled by AMD?
>>
>>55465105
I have two 970s and have never had any problems with them. Can even do 4K.
>>
>>55465105
But there's nothing wrong with the 900 series? They competed, and mostly won, against the 300 series.

>980 ti mostly beat fury x
>980 mostly beat 390x
>970 traded blows with 390
>960 traded blows with 380

And anything gtx 960 or less is irrelevant on AMDs side thanks to their massive driver overhead issue.

Only cards worth buying were the fury and the 380x.

Weird. Call yourself lucky. Current series is a huge failure so far.
>>
>>55465208
So what are you even trying to say in this thread?
>>
>>55465140
I disagree. It remains unclear how much longer Nvidia can continue putting a subpar product.

pretty much this as far as I can tell
>>
>>55465249
Why would you even say that? Nvidia is dominating the market with Superior products and software support.
>>
You have precious little to support your claims.

Especially seeing as AyyMD just had a huge failure with their 480 release.

My 1070 is really nice even though paid a bit much for it.
>>
>>55465105
Nvidia won the only metric that matters: sales.

Enjoy your "superior" card when AMD are dead and gone in a year and it literally has no drivers.
>>
>>55465930
Rx480 sold like hotcakes though
>>
>980
>bad
when will poorfags just kill themselves.
>>
>>55466442
You would have to be willfully ignorant to not see it was the least performing card for the most money. 980ti was the only nice thing nvidia shit out, but it was always $150 more than it was really worth.
>>
nvidia has 4-5x the market share and makes 2-3x the revenue AMD does yearly. the only one failing here is AMD, who is clearly devoting less to r&d and more to hiring astroturfers.
>>
>>55466470
>muh bang/buck
wew lad
My 980 has killed everything in 1440 so far and I haven't even OC'd it yet.
The AMD being worthless-tax may be a bit much, but it's a great card.
>>
>>55466470
>it was the least performing card for the most money.

pretty sure that was the 290x, once you factor in that it draws 2-3x the power for less performance than the 970 and 980 it becomes an extremely shitty value.

the 980 was shitty value as well but the poorfags could always get a 970, OC it and have basically stock 980 performance.
>>
>>55465208
that's some bad cherry-picking friend. Think about all those retards who make those shit-stained threads that get tons of views with no replies because they are trying to upgrade their pre-built machine and it can't handle the power consumption because they only have like a 300/400 watt psu.
If it were a "smart" person they'd RMA and rinse an repeat

yeah sorry no, most of you idiots are freshmen in college and you lack the privilege to retort.

lordy. do people even need better cards than 960? I mean a decent video card should do you well for years. it's like a dick size contest with you rich fags. do you even game or just post screenshots of your FPS
>>

Is the 970 really that bad?

rated 3.5/4 no less

I can run DooM at over 100fps. I just hope nvidia doesn't gimp it too soon.

When the fuck will the gtx 1070/1080 be in stock?

When 1080 ti comes out
>>
>>55465140
980 was supposed to compete with non-X fury. 390X moved in to punch above its weight class. Also, in keeping with your phraseology, the 380 mostly beat the 960, they never traded blows, and the 970 traded blows for some time with the 390, but the 390 has been mostly beating the 970 for a while.
>>
>>55465105
Pretty good series.

Just need to know if I should get the Super Jetstream or the Jetstream. I guess generally OC cards are not worth it. +10 shekels for the OC card.

I don't know, it didn't fry PCIE slots.

Ever try actually going into those threads?

A bunch of Chads trying to go pro and make millions off League of Legends installing drivers off the CD and never updating.
>>
>>55468697
No, the fury was more expensive. The 390x was priced against the 980.

But you're right about the 390 starting to edge out the 970 in modern titles.

The problem with the 380 is that it's at that price point where in dx11 titles, the cpu might be a bottleneck with AMD drivers or it might not be. It's a little unfair to compare performance of such cheap cards with an i7 6700k or 5960x.

With dx12 that's not an issue though.

R9 380x was definitely worth it, more than the 960 and 380.
>>
>>55468770
>R9 380x was definitely worth it, more than the 960 and 380.

380x was ~30% less perf than the 970, by the time the 380x was released you could find used and refurb 970s for the same price as a new 380x.

would have been a better card if it was released like 2 years ago.
>>
>>55468901
Yeah but why would you buy a refurb 970?

I'm comparing them from a new perspective, by that logic you could buy a used 290 and enjoy 970/390 performance for the price of a 960.
>>
>>55468770
>The 390x was priced against the 980.
But that's not true though. Fury launched at the same price the 980 did, $550. It also performed slightly better and was newer, so Nvidia dropped the 980 to $500 before it came out to maintain value relative to the performance disparity. 390X however launched at $430 just a couple of weeks later and was considered to be overpriced at the time for being basically right between the Fury and 390 in price, but leaning much more toward 390's performance. At that point, the 980 was a better value than the 390X for $70 more. The 390X didn't become a real contender until late last year. Remember, the 980 was the flagship before the 980ti and outperformed the 780ti. Meanwhile, the 390X was just an overclocked 290X with more RAM, a card which had been outperformed by the 780ti when they were the flagships. It took a while for the 390X to close that fairly significant performance gap.
>>
>>55468924

why wouldn't you? poorfags buy these cards, if they can get something that's 30-40% faster for the same price then it's worth considering.
>>
>>55469021
It is, but lots of people avoid refurbished or used good altogether.
