Simple screen recorder.

The problem here is bigger than screen recording.
It seems like you want to record your screen and then share it through a group call on skype.
I would suggest that you do it differently.
The easy solution would be to create a web app.
What you need is basically a site which shows an image.
The site would then connect via a websocket to an application on your machine.
This application should basically take a screenshot and send the image.
It is almost like you could just use a bash script where you use scrot to save an image, publish it over socat and then have people update the page to get the new image.
But it would be easier if you just forced the reload using javascript.
I mean, you can whip this up in a weekend.

I have no idea what's happening, but it makes a webm.
2byzanz can make animated gif or lossless flv that transcodes nice. Also makes webm, og[gv] and byzanz format for debugging. There's taskbar applets or cli.
3Kazam is nice.

Skype has a screen share feature....
OBS for recording stuff, and I have scripts bound to some combinations of keys to take screenshots in different ways. I use scrot for taking screenshots.
