It's pretty great, SOT has gotten a bit shit, but Moto Display makes everything happy for me.

Still using a first gen moto x dev edition. Unlocked of course on default 4.4.4 KitKat firmware. Has served me well these passed 4 years, no reason to upgrade really.
Battery life is ass, but has always been. More of mild annoyance than anything.

My LG G3 is still doing fine, although I bought it last year and not when it was new. I fucking love CM13 but I fucking hate how shitty the camera is on non-stock ROMs just as much.
If you've never had this phone, I feel bad for you

Generally get 4-5 hours SOT, sometimes drops to 3
Feels slower than my old Nexus 5, and even that got 3-4 hours SOT
Would never go back though, the screen with sRGB is fantastic
