Can someone tutorial me on the basics and advanced guides on making a good website with some features I'd like to add? or should I just make an account on CodeAcademy and learn there step by step?

I'd like to make a website with both forum and imageboard layouts which are separate, but you can switch between them with the click of a button, preferably without loading too much. Plus I'd love to add even more differing layout options in order to make everyone feel at home.

sound like extreme bloat
plus a forum isn't based around images unlike the imageboard so i dont know how that would work.
if you are serious design it on paper first
Get existing Program for imageboard, design two css, have a button switch css, with javascript or PHP, depending on what speed and compatibility you want.
