Are Bose a meme brand?

It's a normie meme perpetuated by marketing and word of mouth. Word of mouth spreads easily because Bose stuff typically excels in the sounds that non-audiophile types are "wowed" by: heavy bass and heavy treble.

There are exceptions, like recently Bose launched the SoundTrue line which is actually fairly decent, albeit overpriced unless you get a good deal on black Friday.

You can also find older Bose speakers at thrift shops for a reasonable price. These are usually good "people pleasers", i.e. they're great for parties where you want heavy bass and treble.
