I did. I used Torchie and it killed my battery life. Even when it wasn't on it consumed so much battery life.

it's because of how the androids builtin battery manager object works and how the apps are able to interact with it. without being able to keep a constant connection to the instance of that object they could lose the ability to call on it. google was originally able to bypass this but they removed their builtin flashlight app in 1.6 donut because they didn't want something builtin draining battery.

Don't fall for these memes. There's a built in one in most phones, or at least I think so, check your widgets. If it drains 1% in less than 5 minutes you probably either have a bad battery or a bad flashlight.
