Eclipse looks rather useful as an IDE for basically everything, what do you guys think? (Speaking Python, Java, C of course)

Currently I use Notepad++ for Python and Eclipse for Java, I was wondering if it would just be better to have one tidy IDE that does everything

Thoughts?

I think it is good to have one IDE, but the problem is: there is no good one. They are good for specific language, but there are always better one. For example Python has Pycharm, Java Eclipse (?), Netbeans and Intelliji, C++ has Visual Studio, QtCreator.

If you want, choose only one or use several. I myself mostly use Spacemacs.

I've been thinking about this same question for a while now too, still not quite sure

I used just use vim with the proper plugins, a second terminal for the linter and a third terminal to compile/run/unittest. I'm not used to anything else.
Second language in second workspace/desktop, always three terminals on one screen.

Problem: For multiple language, the vim plugin land is one big mess. There's no YCM for windows. Every language has its own community, and every community has its own approach for a vim plugin. Tools like syntastic just don't cut it.

Pycharm was okay, checking was fast and async and all that, it felt much more context-aware, but its terminal/interactive is just crap and the vim bindings are not even half complete.
Atom is nice for web stuff, but it for some reason 'loads' tabs with files that are already open. Keybinds are meh tier and I haven't really figured their idea of plugins and settings.

What do /g/? I'd like:
- Autocomplete and Snippets for multiple langauges (Python, R, Javascript, HTML/CSS and C++)
- Vim keybinds, not because they are best, but because of experience with them
- Static/Dynamic code checking, asynchronous and not bothering me
- Light on the resources
- Not end of maintenance in 6 months

Try Spacemacs

Don't you need to use LiClipse for Python?

JetBrains IDEs where applicable, Visual Studio with Resharper for C++ and C#.

Intellij IDEA, every language

I wish I were that optimistic.

Java: Eclipse (or Intellij)
C/C++/C#: visual studio
web: sublime
python: a gun in your mouth
php: going to need 2 guns for this.

What's bad about Netbeans?

This soo much. Plugins and extensibility are what make their IDEs amazing. IntelliJ can even do golang, and Resharper is the bomb.

I use webstorm for web. Nice and comfy, even have a free key.
