I'm looking to get an aftermarket cooler for my i7 4790k. I don't know if it's because it's summer where I am and it's getting up to 84 at the height of the afternoon, but I was recently playing Saints Row IV on my 980ti, and I was reaching up to 76 degrees, albeit I am playing on 144hz 2560x1440, highest settings, but when it starts to near 80, I get a little scared. It says in CPU core that the cpu can handle 100 degrees. Yeah, house didn't come with an a/c, and not sure if I can just install one since I rent. I mean, even just now, I have an instance of Firefox open, typing this, a Youtube video playing, and those are the only applications open, and I'm sitting at 37 degrees. I mean, should I expect this?

84 degrees in my room that is, and Idk if it's the highest settings, but just the default settings, I didn't change anything really.

If you're going to have a monster set up like that of course you should get an aftermarket cooler, hell even an AIO. You'll be just fine in summer heat with it. Oh yeah, that is normal temps at that heat.

Fuck off with your gaymer problems already

Do you think the 212 will cut it? I've seen that mentioned a lot before.

Yeah, 212 is great, just make sure it fits before you but

check out the silverstone ar01, it's got a similar heatsink and a better fan than the 212 evo while also being cheaper. either one will sort out your temperature problems while also being quieter than stock. could do some overclocking on top of it all.
