You need to go back.

Or or or you could install alsamixer or qasmixer.

how to I work around copying and pasting directories like a fagot?
>>
>>55383574
Double click the /path/ to copy and MouseButton3 / Shift + Ins to paste it.
Also being a pleb does not make "Linux" a meme.
KYS.

dont most DE's just have a slider for volume

unity has it by default in their top bar, XFCE has it optionally

why the fuck do people keep using linux in complicated ways

unless you own a literal toaster oven for a computer, you should be using a modern DE, not a WM or anything else obscure

Bunch of people told you you should use it when you shouldn't because the returns are not actually worth it for you.

Any DE just werks.

Don't dive into the WM meme if you can't even swim by yourself yet.

You can still install a panel and alsamixer.

Dude I use xmonad and I still have volume control....

You use Linux because you can do MORE than you can with another OS. Volume control is just a couple lines in .xbindkeysrc that interface with alsa. I don't even have pulseaudio installed on my laptop (although I do on my desktop to manage soundcard vs mobo audio parts)
>>
>>55383393
Fucking keked hard

Take a joke my Linbros
>>
>>55383393
What fucking lines? I get if you haven't set up interfacing ALSA with keyboard shortcuts but setting volume down is a single line. What have you been doing?
>>
>>55384761
At no point did I say I don't use easy volume control.

>unless you own a literal toaster oven for a computer, you should be using a modern DE, not a WM or anything else obscure

That is the only part of the post I was responding to.

is BSD the new meme hipster OS now that normies are discovering loonix?
>>
>>55383393

Let me guess, you fell for the Arch meme and have no default volume mixer.
>>
>>55384840
every Arch guide tells you to install a volume mixer and Architect has it checked by default
>>
>>55384823
I don't think "hipsters" ever used Linux, the demographic of people who use Linux is mostly the same as it always was (comp sci kids and control freaks) just the average weight of a Linux user increased.

As far as the weird thing to go immerse yourself in, it's BSD (cause whiners can't into change and hate systemd) or GNU/HURD
>>
>>55384865
>GNU/TURD
That's not weird, that's just plain dain bramaged.
>>
>>55384840
Semi-related to your post, but who the fuck sees Linux talked about on an imageboard and thinks "Oh boy the best way to start is with Arch!" Half the posts on this board are even people complaining about Arch being hard, because the average /g/ user is a moron... or did I answer my own question
>>
>>55384901
Anyone able to concisely sum up HURD and save me the searching? My hipster senses are tingling
>>
>>55384909
If you have to ask yourself that question, then you probably already know the answer.
>>
>>55384909
>Oh boy the best way to start is with Arch!
because retarded "power users" keep recommending Arch with Openbox to people asking about a beginner OS, just like in the comic

>Recommend *buntu
>lel fuck off Canonical shill
>Recomment Mint
>lel fuck off Chinese hacker Mint has no security

so they go with Arch and then whine because their Xorg is broken
>>
>>55384960
HIRD of Unix-Replacing Daemons, where HIRD stands for HURD of Interfaces Representing Depth
Basically, they change the monolithic kernel used in traditional unices for multiple small processes running on top of a GNU implementation of a Mach microkernel.
>>
>>55383411
lol..you fucks act like installing an app just so you can lower your volume is just par for the course..since you use linux it obviously is. But you know, there is an easier way.

linux faggots are mlp, furry tier faggots alright.

Thanks for the keks
>>
>>55384823
So hey, I see you use the word 'normie'. This indicates you do not consider yourself normal, but special somehow.

Can you please explain how you are special and not normal?

Is it because you like computers/tech? Is that what makes you special?

>>55385167
Always glad to explain friend :^)

So here on 4chan we use "normie", sometimes as a derogative but sometimes not, to refer to the average person out there. Since this is the technology board, that would be the average technology user. It's not secret that most people have a hard time doing any non-rudimentary things on computers, and that is fine. With the recent focus on mobile devices and the bad consumer policy of Windows 10, more of those people who prefer desktops have looked and Linux as a possibility. This is what I meant

as for the "special" part, special can just mean you're part of a particular group, I believe I'm not part of the "average" technology user but a little above that. That doesn't mean I'm intrinsically superior, just that computers interest me and I've learned more about them than the average person

Because Windows 10 is more secure, supported and privacy respecting compared to Linux and OS X.
>>
>>55385210
So you're not special. I got it. I mean anyone who has an interest can adopt that then, which in turn makes being 'special' or not 'normal' able to be adopted by anyone, which inherently makes it not special or unique.

I have a friend that is a chef, he does not call others normies. I have a friend that is an artist. Shee does not call other normies. I have a friend that is very into Golf, one into guns. None call people not into their interests or casual users normies. Nope, that is used only here mostly it seems. It really needs to stop, but then again, who wants to give up something that makes them feel special, even if it also makes them sound like faggots.

Not at all. don't use it unless you want the bleedingest of the bleeding edge. It's only supported on very specific hardware and even on that it's touch and go. The only people who use it are those developing on it or with very specific research needs.
