Okay so I need a new laptop for college, and I was wondering what to avoid. I need it to be able to run engineering programs and my budget is 2 grand. And no, I will not be installing gentoo.

What kind of engineering programs are you going to be running? My high school's computers from 2009 could run all of Autodesk's CAD software just fine.
