Given a text file with a list of absolute paths to mp3 files, is it possible to play them using vlc in linux? Or any other player, doesn't have to be vlc.

yes. I don't use vlc, but even if a program doesn't accept playlists, you can use
xargs -a (playlist-file) (program)

Found the solution guys:
1)File must be saved with .m3u extension - WTF I thought linux didn't care about file extensions

2)Do not escape spaces in file paths - again WTF

Tested and working on vlc. Took me a few hours though. Counterintiutive AF.

yes, thats how i did for mpv once just for keks
ls -R ~/Music/*.,mp3 muzic
mpv --playlist muzic

Linux doesn't care about file extensions, it looks like it's VLC that does.

Also it isn't counterintuitive to not escape spaces there - it isn't a shellscript.
