no, gentoo use emerge, using portage instead of packages, you compiling everything, you can setup your USE flags, gentoo takes less RAM, is more clearly and for me more powerfull. I use Arch on desktop, Gentoo on laptop and *BSD on servers. for working and programming is gentoo the best for me.

one thing i don't have cunderstand is pacman vs yaourt, Pacman is like apt-get but for ARchlinux; but what is really yaourt ?
