So im thinking of getting a mini itx build. I have an asus gtx 970 dcmoc, and im thinking an intel i5 6600, but im not sure what mobo i should get. The rog maximus viii looks ok, but i use a usb headset, and i dont think ill get the most from the on board soundcard. Doe /g/ have any suggestions?

i just got a gigabyte z97n-wifi (old version of z170n-wifi).

More than enough. You will be limited by the non-SLI form factor, not really the board itself. ROG is a waste of money.
