>people still unironically buy Iphones
Why? When will people start being smart and realizing iOS is shit and iphones are too?

They're the most watered-down, vanilla things you can buy with no options or customization, no SD card slots, and people only buy them as a fashion accessory
>>
The major advantage is software. iOS software is just leaps and bounds better than Android. Even when Android is smooth and fast, the interface is still clunky and inconsistent.

It's essentially the same difference as exists on the PC side between Windows and Macs: OSX is just incomparably more polished (and that extends also to 3rd party apps) vs. Windows (let alone Linux).
>>
>>55238321
Also ironic a supposed mark against iOS is "you can't customize it", when what every Android fanboy longs for is as close to "Stock Android" as possible.
>>
>>55238321
And what professional work do you perform on your Android phone?
>>
>>55238380
Pretty much this. I think Apple is fucking up a lot recently, but I can't bring myself to move away from the ecosystem because of this.

It's true for both the mobile OS and the computer OS.
>>
>>55238321
It just werks and it looks nice. People don't buy these for another reason. Also there is that believe that you have money if you have an iPhone, extremely so in poor countries.
>>
>>55238405
To be honest though, I would probably go for one of these once Apple drop the headphone jack on the next version. I just got a 6s 128 GB though, so I won't be upgrading for a while.

Really don't think superior OSX software is subjective.

iOS developers actually use Apple's latest APIs, and Apple has far and away the best toolkits for consumer-facing stuff in the industry. The fact that almost everyone is on the latest OS release as soon as it's released helps push things forward. As for whatever reason (similar to the Mac) a far higher standard prevails in terms of interface design: nobody tolerates anything ugly on Apple platforms.

>>55238583
Don't act like others care. I had a nice s6 edge when the meme was in full force, yet everyone who saw it looked at it for a few seconds and said "cool." You can't compare it to a car or clothes because a phone is your device; what average person will spend that much time looking at your phone than something that is much more noticeable and is meant to show off?

People don't buy iPhones for the style anymore, especially in first world countries, because the style is normal. They buy it for the simplicity and confirmation that it just works.
>>
>>55238689
>People don't buy iPhones for the style anymore, especially in first world countries
This x1000

Buying iphones as a "status symbol" or something is a 3rd world as fuck thing. No one in a developed country gives a shit about that.

>Wont look like a poorfag in public
I live in a developed first world country, and I see more androids than iphones nowadays.
>>
>>55239222
There are still more poor people than rich people in first world countries, so that's why you see more poors with android devices.
>>
>>55239242
But that's not why they're using androids, generally.
Anyone that gets an iphone for status is a fucking idiot anyway
>>
Buying a high-end Android phone is a more legit sign of wealth since they depreciate so hard and so fast.
>>
>>55238321
User Experience isn't just a meme, OP. and Apple knows how to create a great one.

People would rather have not-so-powerful tech that works well and that's easy to interact with than powerful tech that is clunky to use.
>>

>no options or customization, no SD card slots, and people only buy them as a fashion accessory
You have listed all the things that Don't Matter to most phone users.
Almost nobody (except tragic cases like you) cares about SD card slots. Customization is a "feature" that is hardly ever used. Do you customize your car? Your bike? Your TV? You must buy a lot of MLP stickers in a year.
As for fashion, we notice that Android phone-makers slavishly copy anything Apple does, badly. Right out of Microsoft's playbook.
The only advantage Android enjoys is price, just like McDonald's.

I bought an iPhone for the following reasons:

>day one OTA updates
>consistent 60fps UI
>excellent standby time and good screen on time
>iMessage
>Snapchat is far nicer on iOS
>strong accessory and peripheral ecosystem
>TouchID is super fast and reliable
>plays nicely with my Mac
>3D/Force touch is super handy (3D touching apps for quick shortcuts, 3D touching the keyboard for a cursor)

Android is great. It has a really nice, open approach to hardware and software. The hardware is really diverse and has something for everyone. However, I prefer my iPhone.

So the latest iPhone has a microsd slot, 1440p res screen, capacity to torrent, can be used as a flash drive, and you can share stuff over bluetooth and direct wifi now?!

Look the features that I want don't exist on iPhones and that's mostly why I switched. My iPhone 6s plus was okay but I wanted to be able to do more things. Fact is iPhones lack a ton of desirable features and apple is stubborn to add them and nothing will change that.

Nope my Note 4 gets better battery life than my iPhone 6s plus did. I could easily tell the screen was more high res too, there is a difference between 1080p and 1440p albeit not easy for the average joe to spot.

One thing I was really shocked about was how good an amoled display is. Readability in the sunlight is ridiculously good even at 20% brightness. I wonder why apple never adopted amoled.

It's like it has a bigger battery! Besides, different screen technology. AMOLED uses a lot less power if you display tons of dark stuff.

Nice placeboo.

>albeit not easy for the average joe to spot
Nobody holds their phone 5cm away from the face.

>One thing I was really shocked about was how good an amoled display is
Not really relevant when talking about the resolution. AMOLED is based indeed.

>I wonder why apple never adopted amoled.
Because it took a while for the technology to mature, and seems they didn't fix the burn in issues completely yet. Though going by rumours Apple is jumping on the train now or in the near future.

In general though most people should stick to 1080p res screens on their phone, most probably can't tell the difference between 1080p and 1440p on a phone screen.

The interface is far from clunky, albeit it is more complex due to extra functionality.

The clunkiest bit of Android is the fact that apps have a choice as to whether or not they implement material design.

To all the ignorant people still hating on samsung phones... Come to 2016. Samsung has had the best smartphone the last year+ , from note 5 to S7/edge both market leaders. Better battery life than you iphone (6s+ is on par though) while still having a QHD display, you wont know, not to mention just better aesthetics in general in my opinion and WAYYYY WAYYYYYYYY more software and hardware capabilities. This shit should be standard across the board, but iphone still insists on being shit for the sake of being special snowflakes.

That's a quarter of the truth. It's more of a tool for social networking. And I don't mean social networks, I mean people who socialize. Girls and guys use it, and they use it for iMessage, Tinder, Snapchat, and Instagram. The Android is usually seen with disdain as a tech tool for spergs, just as Blackberries are perceived as a business networking tool.

The basic average iphone is still 16gb, which only 10 of that is actually usable for storage. It's Jewry at it's finest.

You either deal with literally no memory, and no option to use SD cards for more, or you shell out outrageous amounts of money for the larger memory versions.

>>55246973
I've had a 4s, 5, 6 and 6s and none of my phones ever had an SD slot.
>>
>>55247016
You can't predict the future. Maybe 16GB is enough for you today but what about 1-2 years later? Don't you want the ability to upgrade how much storage you can have cheaply just in case? microsd cards are always getting cheap, I wouldn't be surprised if you could buy a 128GB UHS-I one for $10 next year.

Or are you just being a sour grape?

yup, have a vpn on and mostly seed at night when I connect to home wifi.

I don't even use my desktop that much desu, gonna wait for Samsung to release their 320GB microsd card next year to get more storage space. In the meantime I'll have to start deleting a few things once space gets low on my current 200GB microsd card.

Faggot lying his ass off, as an actual owner of a phone with Touch ID, it's godly. Just a few cool things my famalan. Personally the iPhone 5 was my favorite iPhone, but I got used to the size of my 6s fairly quickly so it's not much of a problem.

You answered your own question.

Now, I'm no iPhone defender but I can see why some people prefer it.

I HAVE an android. I choose android.

Still, I see why some people like iPhones. They are for people who need something simple and easy to use and does the basic things like texting and talking, and they also like to surf the net and get on snapchat, twitter, facebook, etc.

For all that iPhone is perfect.

It's when you want to get down to pirating movies, adding memory, sideloading apps, rooting, customization etc that things get complicated, but not everyone needs that.

Not everyone needs their phone to be a special snowflake, and I as a mature adult accept that... even though it's not what I choose.

Grow up. One day you'll understand that not everyone has to like what you like.

But to be honest this is secondary I don't give a shit if it's closed on this side. The first things are way more important for me, if you need something on android you can always find a combination of software that will enable you to do what you want. It's really comfy, but I'm getting tired of bugs, crashes and overall slowness sometimes.

Just because you are autistic and need to rice up every shit you get in your hands doesn't mean a normal person does. Android phones are shit, that's a fact. They are full of bloatware, malware, unoptimized programs, planned obselence, no updates even for 1 year old flagship phones. Why should I buy an android phone that shit itself after 12 months of usage?

I used to be an android user but all the shit they are doing forced me into an iPhone. And I don't regret it. Never going back.

Stay mad you poorfag, try to save up some money from your welfare maybe you can afford one someday.

Why Im on iphone:

>faster than any android phone
>best looking UI
>applications consistent with the system UI
>more practical UI (one layered home-screen/dedicated widget tab/swipe to return/3d touch)
>does everything I need
>just works
>doesnt lag
>pretty much the best build quality on market
>great camera/screen/SoC/storage
>great design
>software updates for years and years
>almost no depreciation
>more secure/encrypted
>apple isnt interested in selling my data for ad money
>best 1st & 3rd party and dev support
>imessage/Higher social status

Its impossible to buy an iPhone and say 'I overpaid for this'

I'll tell you why I got an iPhone: I had a Moto X 2014. Google promised that it would be treated almost just like the Nexus line... Then they sold Motorola to Lenovo. Fuck Google.

Apple is literally infested with Indians. It' so bad that they're designing your phones now, probably why bendgate happened.

Real reason: ignorance

People get iPhones because they don't know how shit they are. Apple has good marketing and paid shills who spread FUD and misinformation about Android. They're literally doing it right now in this thread. It's worse on sites like facebook and twitter.

Anyway I had a 64GB iPhone 6 mostly because I didn't know what to get and it just looked cool so I assumed it was a good buy without really researching much. It did most things like texting and calling just fine.

Then I started to use my phone for more than that and things went to shit real quick. I really wanted to torrent a movie on the go and there are no torrenting apps for iPhones. My browser would constantly reload web pages if I had more than 2 tabs open. Battery life was abysmal if I used my phone for other than texting/calling. Storage became a problem as I my music and movie library grew.

Anyway eventually I gave up and got a Galaxy S4, best decision of my life. Snapped in a fast 128GB microsd card, learned how to remove most bloat, installed Nova launcher, and bought a 5200 mAh Anker battery.

I absolutely regret ever owning an iPhone. Looking forward to the 256GB microsd card Samsung will release soon. Though I'll probably buy it on black friday.

There are several torrent clients for iOS if you want that.

You have to jailbreak your iPhone to use them. I had updated to the latest iOS version and could not jailbreak mine.
