Just bought a new proliant dl380 g5, its neat plan on maybe making a vps. Does any body know if their is a setting in the bios to enable the optical drive? It won't eject or flash but it is plugged in.
*dl360
Could be a dead drive. What are you trying to install? Could use a USB to boot it.

Did that, esxi. Just wandered if maybe I was doing something wrong.
>>55228468
Well the BIOS wouldn't stop it from flashing the lights or powering on. Sounds like its just dead.
>>55228570
Thank you, luckily I can return it.

>Just bought a new proliant dl380 g5, its neat plan on maybe making a vps
Haha, good one
>>55228649
What? Not for renting or anything. Just fucking around.
>>55228676
It's still a shit choice. G6 or later, nothing else.
>>55228719
Couldn't afford it, I sold a poweredge 1650 for it.
>>55230693
Are you European?
>>55228189
Eject and reseat it.
The 360 will boot from USB. It will also support ILO media and console, if the ILO license is installed. But the media function is SLOW.
>>55230987
Nope. I got the servers from some college that was upgrading.
>>55231039
Yes I already installed an OS from USB and I also tried that, but thank you regardless.
>>55231066
Throw that shit away. It's going to suck power and not be very useful.
>>55231092
Well i'm not doing anything commercial with it so it's useful for me to use as a file storage server and screw around with esxi.
>>55231315
Aight, enjoy that power bill my nigga
>>55231322
Ill try, its pretty bad as it is. Only part im concerned about is the noise.
>>55231398
>DL360 G5
>worried about noise
You're in for a rude awakening.
>>55231437
Trust me, i know.
>>55231322
someone jelly
>>55231795
Any idea on what VM's I should run? It's config is:
2x Xeon 5160 ( meh )
16gb ECC 1333mhz
2x 73 SAS drives
>>55231795
Why would I be jealous of literal scrap electronics when I have DL380 G7s?
>>55231437
>G5
>mfw we scrap perfectly functioning G5's daily at work just because we're running out of rackspace in the lab
