Use whatever DE/WM that suits you. Some might be better for some tasks and some for other tasks. Use what suits your particular wants and needs. Either one of the mentioned is good if you're new to Linux since they have extensive support online, being so popular.

Linux noob here. I've tried Gnome, Cinnamon, and KDE. For me its Gnome>KDE>Cinnamon.
I really like Gnome with the Guake terminal. It's just so nice to use.

I don't like Unity/Gnome.
LXDE doesn't have a working cut & past function every time I try it. (I don't understand why, this can't be so hard to fix)
I normally use KDE but the network manager makes me rage quite often. It just doesn't work, changes are not applied unless the PC is rebooted.
Mate is quite ok, had to make some changes to the behavior of the filebrowser though.
The only good des are xfce, cinnamon, and maybe mate
