That's pretty cool
>>
>>55217791
Tor is pretty cool but I like Ironman better.
>>
thx anon this is pretty nice.
>>
Anyone else running nodes? I got 2 exits (1gbps and 250mbps). It's like a second job dealing with all the letters I get, ranging from govt, to companies, and lots of local PD in bumfuck nowhere, it's ridiculous.
>>
Is tor a botnet

>>55218494
Why do tell them? Can they force you to do anything?
>>
>>55218698
What*
>>
>>55218494
I am getting google fiber, and almost want to run a relay on it. But I am too worried for legal reasons.

seed some public torrents instead. they are too slow after a month.
>>
>>55218494
>>55218915
If it's not too much money then use a VPN service that offers public IP and they'll have to deal with Mr. FBI instead.
>>
>>55218915

aren't relays middle nodes? you won't be tied to any exit traffic and you won't have randoms coming at your public ip.
>>
tor is the same kind of autism that thinkpad users have

literally stop you gay assmonkeys
>>
>>55218104
Damn, someone showed me the actual video the other day. People can be so fucking weird.
>>
>>55217791
Is hosting a TOR relay or a TOR exit node in some VPS a good idea? Based on this model won't it become a community-run VPN then?
>>
>>55217875
>mfw i use Tor while doing everyday browsing like 4chin, reading rss and mailing
>>
>>55218063
Wew, that was a close one.

If not for tor, maybe I would never have been enlightened by the wisdom of a numale hipster fag.

Daily reminder that snowden was funded by George Soros aka the Jewish devil aka the destroyer of worlds aka the goyim slayer aka unload my nine at the EU registration line aka le rapefugee man
>>
>>55218111
That looks amazingly nice, saving. Thanks anon!
>>
Thoroughly compromised, only shilled by FBI. Use i2p instead.
>>
>>55218915
there's absolutely no risk running a relay
>>
>>55219803
depends on the company running the vps. should be fine if you don't set it to use too much bandwidth. I wouldn't recommend running an exit node.
>>
Let's be honest, there's no legit use for it.
If someone is using tor they're either buying drugs or looking at preteen hardcore.
>>
>>55220040
>privacy is not legit
>>
>>55220052
>Tor
>Privacy
You should really listen to the Tor devs when they say you need to read the FAQ. Tor sacrifices privacy to give you more anonymity.
>>
It's a trap. They removed Applebaum and now they have control over the project.
>>
>>55220060
Not with hidden services. Then it's actually end to end encrypted.
>>
>>55220060
>https://www.torproject.org/
maybe you should read the front page
>>
>>55219112
Speaking of torrents, wtf happened here >>>/t/ ?
>>
>>55220040
>Let's be honest, there's no legit use for it.
Anonymous web browsing.

>>55220060
>Tor sacrifices privacy to give you more anonymity.
Compared to other possible architectures? Yes.
Tor is still vastly better than direct connections, and it's probably the best low-effort privacy toll currently available.

>>55220106
Jesus Christ. I hope that comes back soon.
>>
>>55220105
No really, go read up on malicious exit nodes. If you're not connecting to hidden services you should always assume someone is watching. Doesn't mean they initially know who you are, but they'll see everything you're doing that isn't encrypted end to end.

>>55220090
You're limited to hidden services then. It doesn't help with general privacy.
>>
>>55217791
>inb4 botnet
>>
>>55220186
limited to?

people just need to get off their asses. setting up a hidden service is easier then getting a webdomain.
>>
>>55217791
I always wanted to try it but haven't. Won't dare to try it at home, specially while in the USA.
>>
>>55220019
top kek, shirley you cant be serious
>>
>>55221975
There's no danger running a relay unless running encrypted data is illegal in your country.
Relays only pass around encrypted data.
>>
>>55222057
The technicalities of it are beyond meaningless, you need a investigator with a stick up her ass and she will come for your shit.

Yay USA.

This nigger got raided at 6am by the pogs just for running a Tor exit node in seattle so yeah it's not completely risk free.
