I read pages 11, 31 & 127, try to get a general "feel" for the animal spirit that emanates from the words on those pages, then apply my zoology degree to pick an animal I feel most opposite of the emanating spirit. It's pretty complex stuff. pic related is some of my better work, the platypus is opposite the wallaby.
for the colors I have my assistant spin a giant wheel that sits in my office.
