Is it possible to convert a remote Linux physical machine to a local virtual machine.
I insist on local because I tried VMWare vCenter Converter Standalone and it only allows me to drop the converted virtual machine on and ESXi

Just mount everything and rsync it into your virtual disk. You'll have to do extra shit to make it boot, but that's basically all you need to do.
