Help me understand exim.

I want to generate an email from a script. Basically have my own email server.

The python script I wrote sends on port 465 with SSL since gmail accepts that. However, it appears that port 465 is only used for connecting to my local email server (exim), then port 25 is used to actually send out the email.

Why? How do I change the outgoing port?

(no I'm not creating a spambot, I'm working on creating stock trading software and want to send myself emails when it opens/closes a position)

So localhost and ::1, isn't that a listening address? The circled ports look like some outbound connections.
