If you reverse nas, it's san.
>>
Nas is mostly a single consumer grade box. Cost is 3-4 digits.

SAN is generally many boxes connected via a segregated storage network and managed by an intelligent control system. Not consumer grade, costs are 5-7 digits

We have reached the point where retards off the street can't / won't / don't know how to use a fucking search engine to create personal opinions.

NAS - Share level storage presentation.
SAN - Block level storage presentation.

Nope, see above.
>>
you might need a nas to watch chinese cartoons on you're cellphone but you definitely don't need a san at home

Yoroshiku onegaishimasu nas-san :3

Hate to break it to you but NAS devices can do block storage like iscsi and SANs can do shares like nfs and smb.

Also in case i wasn't clear, both types of storage networks can do block and share level presentations.

Now, yes. But that was the difference.

San its for people you don't know.
Nas its for Australian people you don't know.

This isn't true at all. They're similar enough these days that SAN just refers to block level storage. QNAP have used NAS/SAN in their marketing. Many people call their Synology boxes SANs. It's just a matter of usage.

It was the first result faggot
>>
San. = Storage area network, a network dedicated for storage with protocols like iscsi.
Nas = Network attached storage, a storage hooked up on the network, to share files for instance with protocols like smb.
