>tfw configuring my kernel for the first time
What am I in for lads
>>55142539lspci -k |grep driverin a working livecd environment
in kernel config search for each driver name
turn to on
throw in your file systems and possibly other drivers
do various other changes you like, say disabling access to /dev/mem, turning off framepointers, changing scheduler to deadline, etc.
call it a day
>>55142539
nothing much. fucking around with the source code is more fun.
>>55142577
Or could i just go here http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Installing_Gentoo_on_a_ThinkPad_T420#Working_Kernel_configuration and copy that text into a .config file and then load it
>>55142599
I guess if that is your machine and you want the exact same configuration as whoever made it
Here's what you're in for: if it boots and all your hardware work then good. If it doesn't boot or your hardware isn't working then just boot your livecd again, go back, fix a few options, compile and reboot.
hmmm i think i enabled everything. lets hope this works xd
>>55142883
goin the ol' arch way, huh
>>55143595

>>55142539
