What's the safe max temperature an i5 4460 can have where it's safe to say the cpu will last +5 years?
It's summer and playing portal 2/csgo/ rendering CAD gets my cpu up to 67 degrees or more.
Don't really wanna buy a low profile cooler since they're expensive as fuck for my htpc case
70 is fine

So anything more than 70 while gaymen and I should consider a new cooler?

Intel CPUs don't really get hot at all desu, it's only AMD housefires that can potentially cause problems (hence the name).
>>55122624
Not really, under load 70s are fine. Worry when it is like 80 though.

So 70 under load and I can safely say I won't have to buy another jewtel cpu in the next couple of years?
If your CPU starts to throttle or shut down, that's when you need to invest in better cooling.
My old i5 can stand an hour at 100°C so you’re pretty safe with 60-70.

My 6700k runs at about 80 under load. If you're that concerned about temperatures, you could Delid your processor and replace the cheap ass thermal paste with something better. I'll probably do that with mine. But know that this may very well kill your cpu. Intel CPUs usually run perfectly fine at sub 70. My last cpu (i7 950) sometimes ran at 90, still worked for 6 years or so. (still works but sits in a box now)
It'll be fine
AMD stands for "Aww Man, call De firefighters"

Cool thanks. Good thing I didn't fall for the aftermarket cooler meme
>>55122977
I want to like amd but their products just suck so much at energy efficiency
>>55122594
Intel CPUs are fine under heavy thermal load. You'll burn out your motherboard long before you burn the CPU.
>>55122594
You can run it all the way to thermal throttling and thermal shutdown with no problem
>>55122977
You'r fucking dumb...
>>55126090
I know I could but I wanna keep this jewtel cpu for at least 5 more years
