Marshmallow ran worse on my Nexus 5, but then I installed purity rom, performance was just as smooth, but battery life was better.
That's why I'll upgrade to this year's nexus, can't do that shit on windows phone or iPhone.

Apple updates devices only for marketing, any device past 2 or 3 years of age shouldn't be seeing any serious action.
That being said, my mom is still happy on her Sony Ericsson xperia x10i because she only uses it to make a receive calls.
