My T61 keyboard randomly stops working for a few minutes and then starts working again from time to time. The trackpoint and fn + function keys still works, but all other keys don't.

Companies like to spend as little as possible. Why take time and effort to layout the type a 3.1 when with an adapter a type c can do it? This should be 2 more type c's

I'm fine using adapters. To be honest if i were designing a laptop style computer these days, I'd have one type c root hub (2 ports), and a power connection be the only externally visible ports. I'd probably also include a slot loading disk drive (BR/DVD±RW/CD±RW). I'd pack in a type c to DP adapter and a type c to 3.1 adapter with a pass through type c.
Whats the best linux distro / window manager for an X220 with a relatively small screen?
Thinking about getting a Thinkpad x140e new for $388. I'm mainly wanting it because ~$400 is my budget, it has to be through Amazon, and from the little reviews there are the build quality is good and you can upgrade the RAM and HDD/SDD. I don't know if there are any reputable Thinkpad resellers on Amazon that you know of but I guess if I could get a T420 or TXXXs series refurbished I would prefer to do that.

I'm probably going to upgrade to a decent SSD later this year. I was also thinking about the Retro, but in all honesty it's probably going to have some ULV CPU which is not appreciably more powerful than my i7-2720QM, and the xx10 / xx20 keyboard is already the best I've ever used, so I really cannot see any reason to replace it. If I get some upgraded storage to take care of the one obvious bottleneck then I'm good for the next few years. Also for the record, the Seagate drive is not too bad. Mine has over 20,000 power-on hours and it's healthier than a lot of WD drives I've seen with a third of that figure.

Really, if anything is going to be obsolete about the T601F anytime soon, it's going to be the ports. No USB 3, no onboard HDMI or DP, none of those hot new meme ports like Thunderbolt, not even an SD card reader. Expresscard and the Advanced Dock can cover some of that, but hopefully the chinks develop a T62 board we can use to keep our GOAT Thinkpads going strong before those new interfaces become absolutely essential.

Lelnovo's (really, any laptop manufacturer's) default paste is the worst. First thing I do to any new acquisition is get right down to the CPU and replace that shit.
