I'll be perfectly honest, I haven't use OS X (or now macOS) for any more than maybe an aggregate 5 minutes in the Apple store, but I literally cannot imagine macOS could do anything to make me believe that it is worse than Windows. Sure it doesn't allow what regular users consider "normal customization" but from a usability standpoint, I just don't see it being worse to use than Windows.
That said, I don't think I would ever run it on a desktop. It seems, to me, like the perfect OS for a laptop. A primarily mouse-driven interface, small iterative updates that don't majorly change your workflow, simplicity for installing new applications, applications being able to be updated through the operating system's update tool. It just seems like a no-brainer. Don't think it would ever replace Linux for me, however, on the desktop.
