Old people like Macs because they're well built, last long as fuck and are extremely user-friendly. My dad used a Mac clone in the 90s, went to an iMac in the 2000's and has been using an '08 iMac (with an SSD) since I bought one for him. Just so you see where I'm coming from: I have a MBP, Windows tower and a Linux server (for no good reason).

His iMac from 2000 was molasses compared to PCs I had lying around, but he understood how to use it. Windows and Linux UIs are a clusterfuck compared to OS X, especially when you are old and have little to no idea of what to expect.

Your dad will love his new iMac. It has a beautiful screen, it's fast for the tasks he wants to do, and looks great on his desk. Don't steal his shine by pushing horrendously built, cheap plastic gamer gear on him. He's your father so he might say yes to you now, but he'll resent you for it. Let him get what he wants; he earned the privilege to not only pay for it, but to make his own choice in the matter.
