So tomorrow I have an interview and they told me that I am required to draw out "What a typical IT network would look like in a small business".
I have barely any idea as to what this means but I want to do well in this interview, any advice is appreciated.

Do one from the '80s, and use a bus network. Or ring network, I can never remember which one was which ( in time) I know what they look like.

Not if you don't know what you're doing. For a small business there's no reason to use anything other than a star network.
