I've been interested in getting a turntable for a while. Are they impossible to find used in good quality? I imagine hipsters have driven the prices up by now. What should I look for?

This is about as meme as audio gets but it is fun.

build your own

buying a prebuilt turntable is like buying a prebuilt PC to /g/

I didn't know that was an option.

turntable ---> LP vinyl record

LP vinyl record --->

1. static
2. dust
3. groove-crud
4. needle skip
5. belt laxity and phase error

>wow this analog sounds so awesome

Gramavox or U-Turn both have great turntables made in the current year.

Other than that buy vintage turntables and stay the fuck away from the recent cheap suitcase ones (they will absolutely ruin your record.)

I recommend an Audio Technica LP60. Perfect for anyone just starting out.
