My old phone was an M8, I've since moved on to an M9, I'll likely get the 10 when there is a good sale.
I feel like their build quality and overall aesthetic is unparalleled. Samsung still makes shitty plastic phones and Sony and moto just aren't much better.
I still use the M8 as a mobile browser and game device to save my battery on my M9. I leave it on power saver mode with data and GPS disabled and I can go 2 full days without a charge.

Used the LG V10 for half a year. Picked up the G5 a few days ago, so i'm transitioning to that once my case + protector comes in.
I'm gonna miss the 2nd screen but to be honest I got a great deal on the G5. I also don't take very many photos so the V10's potential is wasted on me. I still have ~$470 left to pay on the V10 so I decided against keeping it.
That and I honestly prefer the sleek metal feel of the G5 vs the grip + side rail on the V10. Especially since I use clear cases that still shows off the design. Huge selling point for me.

rooting/flashing a nexus is good if you want the 2 apps you are ever going to use that require root and nothing else, rooting and flashing roms slows down your phone (ROMs slow it down dramaticly), its stock android and with the new N beta out it's even better to keep it simple and vanilla. Just get the 6p and get into the beta program and get android N, its really good (duel-windows mode)(better notifications)(better setting).
