>mfw bought fx6300 instead of i3 3220
>mfw 4.8GHz on air
>mfw better than i5 3470 performance
>mfw cheaper than an i3 3220
>mfw my shit tier asrock budget board has 6 sata with on board raid support and crossfire while shit tier Intel boards only have 4 sata and no extra features.
>mfw still competitive against lga1151 i3 in dx12 and vulkan titles
>mfw computer doubles as a space heater on cold winter nights
Can't wait for zen, hopefully it's just as good value as the fx 6300 and 8320 were.

I'm saving up to buy a car outright, okay.

Hopefully zen will be as good as the fx series was in value and performance.

SLI, duh!

Electricity is cheap in burgerland
>>55005857
Except it doesn't unless you torture it 24/7.
Idk about op but in aus there's a $120 difference between the fx and an i5.
>>55004899
Oh yeah. You must be retarded. How saves up 10grand plus for a car.
If you mean second hand then you're retarded to save around $200 due to not buying intel...
>>55004282
>mfw you have to justify your self for buying pleb shit.
>>55005857
depends.
Say the overall power difference 24/7 is 20W (that accounts for the machine being idle, off at times etc.)
In Switzerland, electricity is normally around 0.20USD per kWh.
Wdaily = 20W*24h = 0.48kWh
Wyearly = Wdaily * 365 = 175kWh
Price: 175*0.2 = 35$/year
And those 20 Watts are very, very generous.

Under torture, the fx should be using 40w more than the i3, assuming no oc.
In multithread performance it should be between an i5 2500 and i5 3470. In single thread performance it should be on par with an i5 750.
In games, power consumption really won't be very different, so I'd say op made the right choice.
What I find interesting though is how little power consumption changes when you oc to 4.8ghz.
Is that because the game is bottlenecked by the gpu?

Why not? At 4.8ghz, single thread performance shouldn't be far behind an Intel cpu.
