Hello /g/. I'm interested in learning as much as possible about cryptography.
So far I learned some basic things like Diffie-Hellman or RSA and a little bit about the applications of cryptography (e.g. SSL or blockchains) but I feel like I'm lacking the bigger picture.
What are some good, structured resources you'd recommend on the subject? I'd like to learn about both, the theory and the applications.

Probably the best overall reference: Handbook of Applied Cryptography (Menezes, van Oorschot, Vanstone), ISBN-10: 0849385237, ISBN-13: 978-0849385230
Then follow the references. Looking up some of the important RFCs and following the references may also help too.
Also look up djb's talks on explaining elliptic curves and Ring-LWE. Tanja Lange's work is also well worth checking out.
Avoid Schneier's Applied Cryptography: tremendous respect for the man, and I have it on my shelf but only to fill space because basically all of the crypto in it is thoroughly obsolete, and there are way too many errata; it will teach you bad habits.
