YOU CANT MAKE THIS SHIT UP

lubuntu is even lighter, if you can stand a bit of hassle making it look bearable
>>
>>54924125
if you think xubuntu is light, try arch with xfce, Xubuntu will literally feel like KDE.

I've got an old Laptop with less than 200 MiB RAM. I installed Arch Linux with XFCE on it and it's very smooth. I did not expect it to work as well as it does.

if you think arch with xfce is light, try pupy linux, xfce will literally feel like Windows Vista SP1 on a Pentium III.
>>
XFCE is pretty nice but I keep going back to Unity.

how'd you make it look like that, i've seen close to windows but that is like spot on
>>
>>54927282
Just the redmondxp theme. Its in the package xfwm4-themes iirc.
>>
Want to go lighter?
So fucking light it blows away in the motherfucking wind?
Install tinywm, read the debian docs to make it usable.
you're welcome.

If you want usability, openbox + tint2

>>54924291
not really
they are about the same

chaletos uses 300MB on startup

XP back in the days was working flawlessly on my 1.8GHz single core Celeron, 256mb RAM and 64mb vram - I was playing games like NFSU, GTA:VC etc. Xubuntu will never work on such config, neither it will run any vidya at the same time - even official linux ports.

>>54930265
There is no shame in using a Numix theme. Only retarded weeb minimalists hate it.

Windows cuck here

is XFCE or lubuntu old OS systems? I mean did they come out years ago, like XP? Or are they meant for modern computers as well like Windows 10 is.

Just trying to understand which OS I should go with if I'm going to get off the Windows train.
>>
>>54931278
They can be used on anything and are still being developed.

I use chromium with a ublock origin. I fresh installed last week because new hdd and thats the 1st time ive launched firefox on it.
>>
>>54925550
i am on arch with xfce, for some reason it doesnt feel as snappy as kde on gentoo but its alright for having so much going on with 2GB ram
>>
>>54931278
Consider xfce if you like a more traditional desktop environment. Think of a modernized Windows 95-98. It doesn't come with any flashy effects but its practical and highly configurable. I use it on a pretty powerful desktop. Lubuntu is something I would consider only for ancient systems.

KDE would be a better choice if you want something more robust and flashy and similar to modern Windows. Gnome is just ass.

Why not lxde?
