Maybe it is just me, but I have not had the founders edition of the 1080 get as loud as others have said, even when playing at 4K. Hell, it is actually quieter then the ZOTAC 980 Ti I had.

founder edition's cooler is f u c k i n g trash, basically locks you to base clock unless you increase the fan to 100%.

It depends on case.and your airflow inside it, if card have fresh cool air, it doesn't need to do much work.

i have r9 270x and it has windforce 3x, very silent
there is also a special fonders edition with combined cooling, but I dont know its performance.
