Will Android ever move away from Java?
>>
>>54890688

Why should they?

They just won their case.
>>
it just too much work
i mean toooooooo much!
so the answer is no.
>>
That would make their Pajeet army useless, so no
>>
Android is a convoluted mess of Java front ends, APIs, and libraries. It would take to much time and effort to change the language.
>>
>>54890688
I hope so!

And away from Linux too. I'm surprised google chose that unsecure kernel for their mobile OS.
>>
>>54892344
Mobile is inherently insecure
>>
>>54892344
Google didn't have a choice in the matter, as they bought Android from Andy Rubin
>>
>tfw these types of Asians are rated as 10/10 in the West but they are in reality a 5/10 in East Asia
>>
>>54892344
If they were going to rewrite it and move away from Linux then it would be pretty hard to call it Android.
>>
>>54892310
Exactly.
It took years for android to surpass iOS. Pretty sure google doesn't want to start again from square 1 at this point.
>>
>>54892392
>implying the average user cares about the kernel or API
It's a substrate for Snapchat and Facebook. Nothing more.
>>
>>54890688
Not Android, no. Maybe a new OS built upon Android's model with the intention of superseding it, but not Android itself.
>>
>>54890688
maybe they'll do something like what apple is doing with Swift

i could see them using Dart
>>
>>54892409
They very much do. They're just waiting for ARM SoCs to become powerful enough for them to virtualize existing .apks for backward compatibility and start afresh with a sane foundation.
>>
>>54892412
Well obviously, but Android is classified by the fact that it runs Linux.

It doesn't matter, changing the underlying system on one of the most popular mobile operating systems is just not logistically possible.
>>
Maybe if you actually contribute to it and fork XobotOS from its grave
https://github.com/xamarin/XobotOS
>>
>>54892486
Why isn't the current foundation 'sane'?
Is there a genuine reason why you think so or is it just the usual "HURR DURR PAJEET LANGUAGE" bs?
>>
>>54892486
It's pretty sad that this is true, I'm so sick of the layers of coiled shit that is a result of backwards compatibility. More food for the mound.

It's mostly that a lot of the Android back end is old technology and legacy Java code that was written a long time ago.
>>
>>54892560
Nobody said that it was good, but you can't deny the fact that it's the most popular

Will Java ever away from move Android?

They wouldn't have gone to court if they didn't want to keep with it for a long while

The Asiatic nations get rid of their uglies, we get pretties, and the uglies get fucked. Everybody wins

Stop being poor and buy an iphone.

android suffers from technical debt just like windows. you can write c/c++ for android and have always been able to so

Java sucks and is slow though. Not to mention imperative programming is obsolete.

almost triggered
>>
>>54892362
Of course they could, they own the source code. They just felt that Linux was the best choice.
