Not sure if this is the best place for this, but a porn company is threatening to sue. I didn't use Tor/proxies anything like that

>CEG informs you that you may be held liable for monetary damages, including court costs and/or attorney fees if a lawsuit is commenced against you for unauthorized copying and/or distribution of the Work listed above. You have until __ to access the settlement offer and settle online. To access the settlement offer, please visit __

7z can handle rar files with a proprietary plugin.
>>
>>54890325
18 files, asking 300 per

Really scary because I also had downloaded more (all from kat) that some other company might try and fine me with.

My ISP emailed me the letter from the companies asking me to pay a settlement, honestly can't believe I didn't spend 20 minutes learning how to use a proxy desu
>>
>>54890375
it doesn't need any plugins to handle rar files

Which browser should I use?
I just want something that isn't a botnet.
I'm a total newfag but I checked out the wiki.
Firefox, Icecat, and chromium are "free web browsers", and the rest are "not free" (I guess botnet?).
Which one should I use?
>>
>>54890404
There is no way that they charge $300 a file. They are just trying to shake you up.

If they go to court they have to prove that you did it and they can only win an amount that restores their losses + court costs. If it's a subscription site those 'losses' will be low (like say, one month's subscription fee). They will claim high court costs so say their lawyers charged hourly, but they would also have to prove those costs to the judge. Those costs would only be so high given how straight-forward the case is. In addition there's a risk that they could lose the case, in which case they would have to pay you your court costs etc.

Basically it likely wouldn't be worth taking you to court. I'm not a lawyer but I'd just ignore it.

use ffmpeg, it's command line tool, you can download it from here

you don't need to install anything, just put the video file you want to encode in the bin folder then run command line and use the instructions here:

What C language would I be best off trying to learn? C++? C#?

>>
>>54890850
There's this piece of software which is free, or perhaps even open source, which does a really good job at muxing about. Like transferring the h264 and aac/ac3/dts, what have you, into a different container.
But you could also just extract the contents using the mkvtoolnix GUI program.
>>
>>54891365
C++ and C# are completely different.
If you're already using Visual Studio, just go with C# as your first language. It's easy to pickup and there's plenty of good ways to learn it, while still allowing you to do quite a lot with it.

Hi, I'm the guy that updated Debian from Jessie to Stretch without removing the Nvidia drivers beforehand so the GUI no longer loaded (startx and xinit did nothing).

After removing (purge) all Nvidia related packages, and removing the Xorg config files, the problem persists, but the logfile is naturally different.

I removed xorg and xinit, updated, rebooted, etc. Nothing. The logfile hasn't changed apparently, but I'll update it shortly just in case.

If you could help me out I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks in advance.

Here's the (previous, but apparently identical to the new one) logfile.

but whne it is during games its most often when

>loading the game
>loading to a new zone
>tabbing back into the game after tabbing out

I just cleaned the inside of my computer and blew out all the dust with a duster can and I replaced the thermal paste, while playing games my

my idle CPU temps are 30-40c and while I'm playing games like Fo4, far cry primal, arkham knight are about 50c

this only happened recently, maybe in teh last 2 months and its an on going thing

I can going 4-5 days with no problem what so ever and i'll be playing one of those games for hours with no trouble at all

and suddenly BAM, restart and no harm done besides the computer saying "windows did not shut down properly" etc.

Which motherboard?
Do you have some settings like "Adaptive mode" and "Voltage offset" ?

It really isn't a problem unless you're crashing anyway, no game uses the AVX instruction set so far I know only x264 encoding uses it besides synthetic benchmark tests so it's not like its going to happen all the time and any stress test with AVX instructions is almost impossible to past when overclocking the CPU, I've had my 4690K 4.2Ghz crash after 48 hours on Prime95.

They way Haswell and Skylake CPU work now is different specially under FPU loads.

The CPU VID which is the Voltage you set on the motherboard is not the voltage itself as in how much the CPU being feed but is a "voltage table" instead from which the CPU picks a voltage set for a core clock, not all CPUs are the same so having a set voltage for all CPUs wold not work so Intel has this method were there is a voltage table with some leeway for the CPU to pick higher or lower voltages depending on the silicon quality, so to say every CPU at stock comes with an extra voltage offset so all the CPUs can work without crashing or manually have to tune each single one.

The FPU hardware on the CPUs need extra power compared to the rest of the architecture so once you start FPU task like AVX the CPU will ask for more power and once you overclock the CPU the same FPU hardware will ask for even MORE power, see my image.
>>
>>54895983

Is 27" too small for a 4k monitor? I imagine the screen realestate would be nice but would playing video games be too demanding on it? I don't play very often so I'm unlikely to ever invest in a flagship gpu, probably plan to just grab one of the new AMD 480 or maybe 490(when released). Basically is there any reason not to just go with the 4k monitor when it's around the same price/cheaper than a 1440p monitor?
>>
>>54896061
>You're part of the problem, normalfag.
Prove me wrong then
>>
>>54896000
In my case VIN6/VIN12 is what is being actually being feed to the CPU, yup 1.432v when running IntelBurnTest. VID is the Core voltage I set on the BIOS settings which I set to 1.251 but the motherboard override it to 1.261 when running IntelBurnTest.

This is normal behavior even at stock settings, since we can't manually pick voltages for the FPU hardware itself so the CPU has to adhere to the rules set by Intel which is use the VID voltage table + extra voltage needed from the FPU hardware + the increased VID core you set(remember it is a voltage table which is now bigger) the problem just exuberates with crazy voltages under FPU loads.

>>54896145

You're not going to see that kind of load in normal everyday usage not even while encoding X264 though so you don't have to worry and there is most likely a chance you're going to fail Prime95 with AVX instruction set because the CPU will ask for INSANE amounts of voltage under some test, small tests like 4K in general are crazy hot as they request crazy voltages, if you really want to past all Prime95 tests(really hard even at stock clocks with Haswell/Skylake CPUs) set your VCORE/VRING/VCCIN voltage to 1.9V or higher. but not higher than 2.1V. the problem when Prime95 and FPU loads is that they ask crazy amounts of voltage so even if the core voltage you've set can provide it the VCCIN couldn't do it so lets say you have a VCCIN of 1.7v and the CPU suddently ask for 1.4V, you have less than 0.3V leeway(Intel recommends at least 0.4v) and this is when a crash happens.

What I recommend is to install the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, disable all power saving features EIST and all C states on the bios, set your core multiplier and voltage on manual mode, same with the cache multiplier and cache voltage set to manual mode to, if you haven't messed around with it yet leave it at stock settings.

Run the stress test for at least 12 hours, if you fail increase voltages by 0.001.
>>
>>54896000
Ok, so what do I want to set my values at and which voltage method should I use?
1.39v with adaptive voltage has been stable in prime 27.9 for 3 hours, but the voltage ramps up to 1.43. I'd have to test again with override voltage, but it goes down to 1.34v.
A constant voltage isn't being forced since EIST keeps enabling itself in the bios.

I'm migrating my HDD to my SSD. I've cloned the HDD. Now I'm getting a signature collosion error on the SSD, which should mean the clone was successful right?

Currently creating a full system backup on an external hard drive. Do I format the HDD now? Will windows try to stop me from formatting the partition that windows is on? I've got this far but I feel kind of stuck now.

Is there any device out there that has all of:

>10.1" or less screen size
>Pretty ok with actual linux, so no terrible wifi binary blob issues or hardware buttons / sleep / etc issues
>Ideally has an ok keyboard, but can deal with bluetooth
>charged off USB, so I don't have to carry yet another charger
>Ideally can have 4GB of RAM or more

I'm on an Asus t100 which ticks off most of it, except only 2GB RAM. That'd be fine itself, but it's a crapshoot running linux on this, and I need it to actually do work on it.

>>
>>54897518
Always state your use case. I'm assuming 100% gaming here.

More and more games are starting to use 8 core. 8350 has some life left in it. Are you running stock clocks? OC that bad boy, its designed around being OC'd. You can get an extra 400mhz using just the shitty stock cooler that came with it. Even more with a hyper 212 evo or other cheap hs/f. What's the risk? You want to upgrade any way right? If you fry your motherboard, that's just an excuse you can use to go intel.

If you want to move to an intel platform, you will already need a new MoBo anyway, so buying new RAM shouldn't be a problem.

Why so small? Wouldn't that make work difficult? Have you tried Newegg's Power Search?

Failing that, a tablet can ssh/mosh to a PC or server/VPS (some developers blog about working that way before returning to their PC or giving up entirely), and you can set up a GNU chroot on a rooted Android device. It would need to be rooted again after each system update, and you'd have no GUI in the chroot.

If you have OEM windows, you will need to re-install. There might be system migration tools if you have a regular windows licence though. If you go Intel go skylake for DDr4. Even an i3 6100 beats the 8350 handily (in games), so you'll feel like you upgraded for cheap. The skylake i5's are great. Don't buy i7, that's just pissing away money if you aren't gaming at 4k 60fps.
Zen should be out before the year is over though. Personally i'm hoping october. It will also be ddr4 sooo.

It's got 2 gigs of ram and an Intel atom for $200. I am going to be reformatting with a low resource linux distro. You guys think it's a good deal? The video reviews of it seem to show that it has a pretty solid build quality which is more important than specs. My main concern is the lack of Ram which is soldered on and its ability to run even linux half decently. Also would the 11 inch screen get annoying quick?

Im not sure what you are doing or trying to say but what i recommend is that you back up your important data, wipe your drives and do a fresh install of windows 7/10. a part of the price is build quality, you're more likely to get a perfect panel if you pay more
since panels are such a pain to manufacture there are very few companies (5-6 big ones if memory serves) that actually make them, so chances are an Asus and an Acer might actually use the same panel even if the price is vastly different
Asus is generally a reliable brand, Acer not so much

Now, here is the dilemma
1) want to support artist as much as possible
2) do not want them falsely banned for suspicious traffic (probably not a worry, but definitely don't want that)

I've thought about a referb thinkpad, but Ive always been hesitant when it comes to used tech. I have to get this though amazon because the only reason Im getting this is because I have an amazon gift card. Do you know if amazon's referbs are well received? Also what are some models of referb thinkpads that would have the specs and build quality for around $300? Ive always been under the impression that thinkpads under Lenovo have been extremely subpar build quality wise. This is mainly through internet rumor though however when an overseas company acquires an IP for manufacturing it generally isn't a good thing. I'm mainly wanting a laptop for around $300 that has a decent build quality and would be good fr learning C and command line.

Advertisers pay to get clicks. Whether or not they sell anything when someone visits (the conversion rate) is mostly the responsibility of the people who designed the website.
Last time I checked, YouTube wasn't profitable, so its anyone's guess how they determine what channels 'earn' when the cost of hosting them could out weigh the ad revenue for small audiences.
I'm sure if you messaged them and told them you'd contribute to some kind of crowd funding account they'd at least take that as a major confidence booster.

Samsung are a trusted brand and lots own it and confirm it's quality. That's why it's recommended, but really... get anything he can afford that's had a refresh of its controller in the past 2 years and is a brand that is trusted.

Sorry, Trion 150. It's the refresh of the 100.

It's better for your GPU that you duck past the loading screens quickly. Some are so simple the GPU puts out 2000fps on them. No point them doing that with regularity.

Price and reviews. I would get a 1440p one but the good ones are a little expensive. Ive researching the past few days, and that's what Ive found. Should I go for the 24" one then?

My point

Games shouldn't do that if put together correctly. If they are, you can limit refresh rate with Nvidia Inspector. Does FTL still do it?

How are benchmarks meaningless? How else do you garage an ssd? Also sammy has such huge sales numbers and reliability for the 850 Evo.

Is that not worth the 18 dollars over the Trion?

I can't answer someone else's opportunity cost proposition.

Searx is slow as fuck.
Qwant lacks some options (search by date, image size, etc) and sometimes misses important results.
DDG doesn't give very good results either when looking for something not obvious.

Any other alternatives?

Okay I really like the botnet that is chrome.

For some reason it changed in the last week and I tried googling for solutions and I couldn't find any.

For example.
When I typed "go and clicked enter I'd reach google.com.
Now when I do that I reach a screen saying that go isn't a website.

The first couple of solutions while googling didn't fix the problem, so I ask here.

Is there a way to remove a line based on the line having a certain word, in a text file?

I think Notepad++ has a tool for it. IIRC you automatically (bookmark?) every line with the word and remove them all.

If I upgrade to Windows 10 from 7 how fucked will everything be with program compatibility? Most of my shit still works from XP to 7 but I have a feeling it won't for 10.

Or better yet, is there still away to upgrade from Win 7 Home Premium to Pro and above (legal or not) without having to do a clean install?

Is it possible/advisable to make a computer case out of my dead cat?
>>
>>54897750
No. The USB ethernet adapters require a driver to operate, you can't just plug it into a game controller. It's not like a VGA -> DVI adapter or something that just rearranges physical pins.

Yes/No
>>
>>54900801
It's not like a network adapter, it's basically a USB over cat5 converter, so the Xbox would just see the controller
>>
>>54900859
Oh, really? Didn't know such a thing existed, in that case I guess there's no reason it wouldn't work provided the signal is not altered in either conversion.
