How am I able to tell if a multi-function gate with four inputs is able to operate as an inverter?

How can I tell from the following logic statement that the gate cannot function as an inverter?

vary each permutation of A,B,X, and Y and show that F != not [A,B,X,Y] for either value of those inputs

You can find a combination of inputs such that you fix three of the inputs at either 1 or 0, but you toggle the other input and it makes the output look like an inverter.
