Are there any relevant open source CPU architectures?

I thought that /g/ loves any open source projects but almost nobody talks about open source hardwares. Why?

>Are there any relevant open source CPU architectures?
Off the top of my head, MIPS and OpenRISC.

>I thought that /g/ loves any open source projects but almost nobody talks about open source hardwares. Why?
Because /g/ is full of clueless retards that are just here to shitpost about their favourite Apple-vs-AMD-vs-C# pissing match.
Almost everyone who wants to actually talk about computers is long gone.

Looks like some of the Raspberry Pi people are behind it, and it's probably a decent architecture (RISC-V).

>I thought that /g/ loves any open source projects but almost nobody talks about open source hardwares. Why?

/g/ is 10% autist neckbeards that prefer to compile their gentoo (while not caring that they are being permacucked by Intel ME) and 90% video game children. Software people often fear hardware, even Stallman was dismissive of Open-Source Hardware until recently. They think their linux will protect them, they don't want to know that the hardware foundation is rotten.

So it's only a tiny minority actually interested in OSHW CPUs and how to achieve true computing freedom and security.

Actually there were OSS CPU designs for a decade at least: see http://opencores.org/ http://www.gaisler.com/index.php/products/processors

Some of them were used in special-purpose ASICs, almost all of them can be used in an FPGA project. One of the largest free CPU arches was OpenRISC, it has linux ported to it http://opencores.org/or1k/Main_Page

Recently there appeared RISC-V ISA and core designs, it is the premium open source CPU now with lots of cores, tools and linux ported to it.

Patrician taste

>Picrelated
>Android body with height equal to mine
>Carbon fiber reinforced polymer frame with some parts, esp. joints made of aerospace-grade magnesium alloy
>Soft polymer hair, gold blonde
>Crystal blue eyes, each one contains a 15 Mpix RGB CMOS sensor with wide focus
>A fully functional mouth with teeth and 3 DOF tongue
>Fully functional hands and legs
>Art deco design
>Total weight is 50 kg of which 25 kg are li-pol accumulators
>8 hr working time, 3 hrs charge time
>Full custom OS of my design running on embedded 8 core CPU + 2560 core GPU
>Biometrically locked to my appearance and behavior

Everything ends up in our brain in the end. This is the most efficient way. If you think otherwise you don't want a waifu. You want a slave.

I don't see it as something bad.

See

>Biometrically locked to my appearance and behavior
>Obeys me and protects me
>100% loyal to the point of compromising self-preservation

Also to me it seems you are underestimating benefits of having a robot waifu that cooks, cleans and provides you with sex & companionship.

You can't like there can't be robot waifus with a degree of sentience or even fully.

Waifus are not for being useful, they are for your psychological, emotional and spiritual needs. I agree that tasks can and should be automated.

Women aren't sentient either. It's quite easy to imitate female behavior, see http://www.masswerk.at/eliza/

Some people has been fooled by it. With better technology you can create much more realistic imitation. At some point it stops being important if it is an imitation or not, as far as it works.
>>
>>54873475
If it's truly sentient it WILL happen. It will figure out servitude is inefficient and basically say fuck you.
>>
>>54873514
Who said we had to give true complete sentience. Everything will be fine if they understand remaining loyal to their creator or maintainer is a good idea.
>>
>>54873562
This. Laymen often think that smart machines are outside our control, perhaps because they can't even be in full control of their computer. But engineers and software devs look at this differently: we create it for scratch, it should work as intended. Loyal by design. Test and debug it until it works just right.

>Android body
Anon, do you also want penis on it, don't it?

Not quite sure what happened to this thread, but confirmed, RISC-V is definitely what you're after, v2.1 of the ISA sheet just came out.

Privileged mode spec still being discussed and is the only remaining piece blocking a full SoC. LowRISC is already doing well as a microcontroller project.
