Are dropped calls even a thing anymore? How much do you pay and what do you get

Im on verison right now and my reception is really inadequate

I don't stream, just browse. 4G in my town but not in my side of the county. LTE in the big city. $45 a month I can't complain. ~120 dollar LG phone has starting rotting. Need a nexus.
