How can AMD compete when Intel already has a 10 core? Zen will only have 8 cores and I'm sure their IPC won't be 25% higher than Broadwell.

Xeons are for servers. Most "workstations" are just crappy prebuilt PCs with mid range CPU and integrated graphics unless they really need something better.
AMD and Nvidia are finished. Just use intel with integrated graphics.
