I worked at a small company which produced hi fi equipment for 18 months and we had this policy of no "male" or "Female" it was A and B, but naturally everybody forgot which was A and which was B and it was a huge cluster fuck and there were logistics problems everywhere.
They eventually got new management and reverted to male and female and presto the problem went away
