Have you done online education? Is it comparable to old irl studying? Do you have any diplomas?
i looked at some lynda.com, udemy, coursera and mit ocw stuff. i like mit ocw stuff a whole lot. lynda is decent but should cost less and no one should pay for udemy. coursera has a few cool courses.
are you talking about online colleges tho? fuck those unless you have no other options. junior college is likely better.

I wasn't talking about colleges, but do those require you to physically travel to do exams? That doesn't sound bad at all. Here's those are called Open University, and been available for a long time before the Internet, and required minimal presence (often no more than once a week).

Online education from a university is fine. MIT, Cal Tech, Lamar, Harvard, Stanford, UT, Baylor all offer many degrees online. Just go to a credible school. I finished my masters in engineering online. It requires intense discipline though. Much more so than normal; not everyone can do it.

for most people, the university degree means shit as well

OP: online and university education are the exact same, except with university you have the benefit of:
1) practical labs with 1-to-1 tutoring
2) access to resources & tech you would be impossible to get on your own, via the lab sessions
3) networking (the social kind)
-Most people neglect point 3).
-Labs were important for me because chemistry was my major, so it's not like I can just buy an NMR machine or the chemicals. Not sure how it is for tech but I assume the electronics can be quite expensive. Not sure about programming though? 1-on-1 tutoring helps A LOT.
Most techies are introverted though, imo, so they never ask for it.
