It's time /g/. It's time for a new router. Have been using this for far too long. What should I get? Will be for home use. I have 6 or so wireless clients. A TV, some PCs, phones, ect. Need something with some range for a multi-level house I just moved into. I've been eyeballing the Linksys WRT1900ACS. Is there a better choice for my use case?
Keep your current router and upgrade the firmware to unlock its full potential, DD-WRT or Tomato imo

DO NOT any of the new wrt routers unless you intend to use open wrt. The stock firmware is trash and there are no plans for them to release an updated version with fixes.

Did, throughput just doesn't cut it.

Why would you do that?
I bought an asus AC66U the other day and it kicks some ass.

And, you know, if you're totally fine with 2.4GHz with no hardware for 5GHz yeah that's good.

Pretty sure this fulfills that.
