I honestly dont know shit about building a computer. I didnt want to just use google and figure out what everyone thought was the best out there, I want to actually understand all the parts of everything that goes into it.

does anyone know of a good site to actually learn about everything. I dont want anyones how to with all their opinions, or any step by step guides. I want something i can study.

first time on /g/. sorry if i broke all your rules. and thanks in advance.

I like it a lot. way better than anything I can find.
but is there anything a little more aimed at understanding it from a computer engineering perspective, rather than it telling you what it thinks is important about everything.

it doesnt seem like it will teach me much still. i want to learn this shit

thats exactly what i dont want. i want to learn from the experience, not be told what to buy at all. i want to understand all these specs for everything that goes into it.

I am not trying to build this tomorrow. I plan on studying for at least a couple months before i buy anything. i want to learn something from this.

I'm not sure why you have a bias against using Google. Rather than needing a "best source" it's adequate to simply learn in a stepwise manner.

You know a computer has a CPU, so pick a CPU and look up the specs for it. The specs will mention something called L1/L2/L3 caches. What the fuck are those? Go back to Google and start searching for explanations. When you're satisfied, return to the specs page. You'll see FLOPS. What are FLOPS? Back to Google.

I really think you can do this with a curious mind.
