I need a offline virus scanner that is reliable.

I used windows defender offline, but now I have this shit where it says it needs to update the definitions even though usb was created from a fresh exe ten minutes earlier. It fails to update the definitions after trying for 5 minutes and says needs internet connection even though the computers are connected with ethernet. I researched the problem and people just say its a defect and mircrosoft needs to fix it.

Can anybody offer my a good/better alternative? preferably something I can put on a usb and boot from.
