For a month or two then dies again, then it dies in a month, then it dies in a minute, and you still have a possibly cancerous oven.

You're right, there's no way that inhaling the lead solder fumes from lead solder could possibly be carcinogenic.

Manufacturers rarely use lead solder in consumer electronics becuase the harmful effect disposal of these devices leave on the environment, which sucks becuase the reason why these devices stop working in the first place is becuase the shitty tin solder manufacturers use instead of lead solder breaks apart after continuous exposure to high temperatures, like in OP's graphics card and tons of old PS3s

This, to a certain extent. All electronics sold in Europe must comply to the RoHS, which the US has since partially adopted.

As for the lead free solder being responsible for reduced life of components, it's just one small part in a much larger jigsaw. If it's done right it's not a concern. Early lead free NVidia cards (and all cards of some specific MacBook model that I can't remember right now) butchered the change to lead free, leading to the current public perception.

That's one of my favorite asshole kikes. Literally seen him 'oy vey' on a video before.

But honestly he would not have been pissed at OP unless he was selling it as a repair service or some shit.

Also reflowing may have fixed it, sometimes the solder joints go to shit and reflowing can honest to god fix that. But the kike in the video don't want you to know this so you will send your shits to him for repair. Why? Because he's a kike.

This is why you always mix different drive brands. If you have 1 Seagate, 1 WD and 2-3 HGSTs you'd be fine in RAID 5. It's extremely unlikely that 2 drives from different manufactures would fail at the same time.

RAID 6 is pretty fuckin based, however.

I baked a GTX 280 and revived it. This was when GTX 580 was current.

Went to sell it locally for $20 and people in my shit town were low balling me on $20 ("will you take 15?"), so I destroyed it and threw it in the garbage.

Fucking assholes wouldn't pay $20 for a card faster than what you could get new $200 then.
>>
>>54753610
I used to buy lots of broken GPU's and bake them and if they worked I sold them for idiotic profit.
Even if they didn't it didn't matter because I still had a great profit.

Good times.
>>
>>54753610
I've baked cards with a charcoal grill a couple of times. Both times it worked, albeit only just temporarily. 1st time 6 months, 2nd time 2 months. I just wrapped tin foil around them and grilled them for 10 minutes.

But hes point is that nobody knew it was baked and they still wanted to get it cheaper whats retarded for a card that price, I'd get it if he was selling it for 80 bucks and people would have asked 75.

>>54762361
Hes point is that you still tried to scam people, a baked card ain't gonna last, fair enough you didn't ask much for it.

>>54766177
Captain America is fictional, numbnuts.
>>
>>54759250
Putting it in the oven doesn't reflow it though. You need more heat to melt that solder.

If the problem is the internal balls on a flip chip then doing this heating oven job likely just causes them to expand a bit and regain contact. It'll last X number of hot to cold cycles before it loses connection again.

It's not a fix. It is a bodge. It is like how you can stop a radiator from leaking by cracking a couple of eggs into it. It doesn't fix your radiator but it will stop the leak for a while, hopefully long enough you can limp to a garage to get it fixed.
>>

No one is fine with raid 5 with multi TB drives. Have fun with your week long nail-biter of a rebuild, praying the users kill you because of the painfully slow raid before the anxiety of any parity errors does.
